I have a brand new mantis 2 cycle tiller which won't start. I don't believe I'm getting a spark through the plug. Does anyone know what the gap should be for the sparkplug?
When trying to test for spark. remove it from the cylinder hole. attach it to the plug cable (the part that normally attaches to it but you had to take off to remove the spark plug) then hold it to any steel part of the engine or a table... try not to shock yourself. that method does work, but it isn't good for you, especially if you have an unknown heart condition. if there is no spark, check the gap. usually about .2, and then try again. if there is still no spark you may need to check the timing and armiture on your engine.
