Hi. R12E does not exist on Thermador, the error is probably F12E. F12 E means door latch error. E12 means door latch error. E means that you can try resetting with the following procedure: 1. Turn the clock selector knob to OFF 2. ?Tweak? the oven control by turning the clock selector knob slightly to the left (counter clockwise). This may stop the flashing message/beeping and clear the display window. Try first disconnecting the power cable or tripping the circuit breaker for five minutes, to reset the Range Electronic control. If that does not clear the error, then the door latch micro switch is faulty. Test and eventually replace the door latch. Here all Thermador fault codes: THERMADOR
Regarding your problem, the curious thing is the error R 1 2 E. I do not have it on any Thermador error code list or error code book. Did you call Thermador to see if they know anything about this?
Now I am going out on calls. I will be back to you in about 5 or 6 hours.
Please disregard my last comment , you did not leave feedback, I could not see your comment and this solution was mixed with a different problem. That is a standard message I send when I get bad feedback, it wasn't supposed to be posted here.

If this happened after a top replacement, then it is likely one of the connectors or a wiring problem. Sometimes electronic communication errors are not listed in fault code books. It may be interesting knowing the parts number of the old and the new top. If possible also keep the old part. Also let me know if the old cooktop was replaced because of a fault.
