I have a child account for my xbox live account and my parents and I would like to use Netflix. I have already tried signing up for it directly from my Xbox 360 and it said I couldn't due to the child account. Would it work to get a Netflix account from my computer and then connect the account to my Xbox 360? Would this be a way to bypass the age restriction? Or, is there some other way we could get Netflix on the xbox without having to create a second gold account?

You will need to upgrade your child account to an adult account to be able to use Netflix. Unfortunately this is not possible until the child reaches the legal age of 18 (US).
Once a child account is created it is managed from the date of birth indicated when applying for the account.
Netflix can't be bypassed to work on an Xbox 360 on a child account.
The only solution to view Netflix on the Xbox 360 is to have an adult account created and access via that account.
Recommend that you just stream using your computer. Plenty of options out there to get your PC hooked up to your TV if you need to view in a larger scale.
