I have a cisco WRT160 router and have lost wireless to laptop
I have a cisco WRT160 router and have lost wireless capability to my laptop. (I had it set up for automatic) The network shows up perfectly and everything is "in the Green" but will not allow me to go-online. I have re-entered the key etc and followed every bit of help I could track down such as :
1 - shut all things down and rebooted.
2 - confirmed correct key, then changed it and tried the new key.
3 - checked all connections.
4 - tested the system (all good).
5 - bought a new router to try with the same result.
6 - dropped firewalls etc..
The network shows up fine and it simply will not allow me to connect to it. It worked perfectly for the last year ? I tried other wireless devices with the same result.
what could it be ?

Change all the wireless settings of the router.
Change the SSID ( network name ). change the SSID something new that you never tried before. change the security to WPA personal.
change the channel to 6.
make sure the wireless MAC filter is disabled.
under advanced wireless settings change the beacon interval to 75.
Now on your computer try to connect to the new network name.
see if that works.
If that doesn't work then try to upgrade the firmware./
