I have a client with a Posiflex system running PC America Restaurant Pro Express 9.5. This was a used system which I purchased from a discount house. I set it up and delivered it to the client a week ago. She had been practicing on it and then all of a sudden, the cash drawer will no longer open. The cash drawer is connected directly to the PC via an RJ11 jack on COM1. It is not connected to the receipt printer, which is on LPT1. I checked the hardware setup in RPE and it is still configured on COM1. I can use the POSIFLEX utilities to kick open the cash drawer. And so she's using that for now. But this is a hack which I want to correct. Anyone have any ideas?

You could try reloading RPE. It only takes a few minutes and could correct the problem. You would not lose any settings because they are stored in the target="_blank">[email protected] Please return and give me a favorable rating if this helps or is of value to you.
i've gotten 10.5 style="display:none;">i've gotten 10.5 database converted to newer versions several times, so pcamerica should be able to do that for you (it's always been $150 for me) they should be able to do it for 9.5, but i'm not surprised they've given up on that version, i've never even seen it!
Well, I was finally able to get to the root cause of the problem. Believe it or not, the setting for the "Friendly Printer" affected whether or not the Cash Drawer openned. This is the case even though the cash drawer is not connected to the printer.
It seems the problem started right after the customer swapped out their Star Printer for an Epson Printer. When they added the Epson Printer, they chose "Epson Thermal Printer" as the printer type. By switching it to "Other Thermal Printer", the cash drawer opens.
Strange but true.
