I have a coleman 5000w generator. when its running it's rpms are way high and my volt output on the 120 side is 153v how can i slow yhe rpms down is this a carb broblem thanks mark
Hi Some small generators that do not have a built in AVR are set up to give the nominal voltage at it's nominal loading. this meens if it is unloaded the rpm 's creep up and so does the voltage. I would suggest running the generator with the load you normally connect to it and ****** the fueling till you get the nominal voltage you require. (record any change you make) If you are connecting this generator up to a house be very careful not to leave any sensitive equipment connected in the house as the voltage will be jumping eraticaly as it is loaded and unloaded, one item that gets hammered is the electronic contol on boilers/burners.
