I have a coleman powermate PM0495503, and it has four wires coming from the stator. 2 blacks and 2 whites. When I ohm them out, one white ohms through to one black and the other white ohms through to the other black. That seems normal to me, but one of the sets of white and black also ohms to the center bolt of the rotor. Does this mean the stator is junk, or will it still work and only supply one of the two 120V. recepticles on the generator, and the 240V. plug be useless?
On a 120-240V system you should have a reading between white and black as desribed, you should have nothing between the black wires and ground, however you can only test by completely disconencting them all, you may have a N-G bonding jumper in the output wirs giving you that reading
