I have a Craftsman garage door remote dated 06-98 that won't work. I replaced the battery and it still doesn't work. Can I take my remote somewhere to see if it can be repaired or should I just go to Sears and buy another one. If I get a new one will it be able to "communicate" with my opener at home or do I need to bring the home unit in as well?

Do you have any other remotes that work? It could be the receiver that has quit. If you have other remotes that work your best bet will be to replace the one that isn't working but the opener will need to be programmed to your new remote.
