I have a customer that has some problems with her sta-rite pool heater. Someone turned it up to 120 and left it. The flue discharge has melted and it now sometimes fires, burns a while, goes out and sometimes it tries to fire and doesnt. It is getting gas Thank you Alan Colloms
All sta-rite pool heaters have had a governor on them that limits the temperature settings to max out at 106 degrees farenheight. Im not sure how they bypassed this but it would require an after market controller to make it happen.
If the flue discharge has melted, im sure the flue high limit sensor has been damaged. Might have enough continuity to make it start, then loses it after burnig a few minutes.
When you find a heater like this. Dont work on it unless the customer gives you approval to work for a few hours just to investigate what it is that happened.
