I have a dct700 which is displaying only a red light next to the messages and no other lights. I have disconnected and reconnected the box several times and have also checked all the cables. I am not getting sound or picture when I tun on the TV

Those are the only 2 lights on a dct700
the red one usually means you have a message under the menu (probably junk mail about upgrading to video, internet and phone)
try to find out if your on the right channel.
-if a cable goes from your box to the tv use the buttons on your tv to get to 3 or 4
-if the red, white and yellow goes to your tv look for a input or source button on your tv and press it repeatedly till you find the correct input
to clear that message after you get a picture go to menu and try to find something about messages.
