I have a dr-vx1 mic and have hooked it to a m-audio fast track usb this is all attached to my new 24" imac the sound is vary faint and can only be hear thru the headphones do i need speakers and do you recommend any, i am using it for garageband thanks

I use the same mic w/edirol FA64 and Macbook pro. Try a different mic, if still faint, check system settings to use m-audio mic in.
