I have a Emachines W3650, starts for a second,Makes one long beep
I have a Emachines W3650, and recently took an old hard drive from another emachines that uses an IDE connector and installed it, grabbed the files i wanted off of it, then proceeded to take the main drive from the old computer and attempted to repeat the process, then when i hooked everything back up i got no video, and it sounded as though the computer was booting properly, so i assumed the bios may of needed to be reset, so i removed the battery amd let it sit and let the board discharge, while this happened i checked the crt's connector to the video port, and noticed one of the pins was bent back against the plug, so i straightened it back upright the best i could, thinking this just solved my video problem. i quickly put the battery back in, hook up the crt and all other plugs, and then the w3650 starts up for about one second, then powers off quickly, restarts on its own and makes one loud beep, no video still, and i have switched monitors, tried a different video card, no luck.. what i think happened is when i put back in the battery i may of put it in backwards. and at this point im at a loss and have exhausted all the possibilities that have occurred to me (of course besides taking it to a shop, lack of money for that right now) can anyone else give me any ideas of what happened or what to do?
