I have a empire rh-65c 3yrs old I am having a problem the heater will shut down every so often I replaced the pilot and thermocouple I also put a cap on the chimney and had a new SS flue installed I thought it might be a backdraft problem. Regards TomC
This heater is a very simple model . So only 3 things can cause the main flame to shut down: 1 - not enough gas pressure, caused usually by a failing main valve on the propane tank: install a manometer and check it with it in use and when it shuts down. 2 - the safety thermocouple and its associated system is faulty - you have replaced those so not the case here. 3 - the vent shutoff switch gets activated , most likely when the draft isn't strong enough - you will have to check the draft and insure that the switch is operational
This switch is located in the draft box, not at the burner. If you have replaced it then the only thing left is the gas pressure- check it and install a regulator. This switch is located in the draft box, not at the burner. There is nothing else that could fail - it's one of those 3. Check them all again - either yourself or call a different repairman. There is nothing else that could fail - it's one of those 3. Check them all again - either yourself or call a different repairman.
