I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It has very few hours of service. However, often, when I turn it on and switch from standby to power - I get a blast of feedback. I can get it to stop, usually be switching back and forth a few times, or on and off a few times. The sound is still great, lots of voloume, tone, etc. What's the deal?

First try turning the volume control down before turning switch to operate.
IF this seems to fix it, IF the unit has a tank reverb, the vibration of the reverb springs MAY be causing the problem. The solution then is to reduce the volume before applying power WHICH is a good idea anyway... from an electrical engineer.
It sounds as if you may have to replace the STANDBY-POWER toggle switch.
