I have a ford escort rs turbo s2 1988 mk 4 it starts then it stops it starts because of the cold start valve im sure there is somthink wrong with the fuel metering unit as it is not pumping any fuel in to the injectors what can i look at to make sure its not the metering unit before i get a new 1 cheers

The crankshaft position sensor gives a report on engine rpm and this is how the fuel pressure is set for a given rpm. The cold start sequence could temporarily enrichen the fuel and adjust rpm then hand off duties to position sensors. Also cam timing sensor needs to work to maintain fuel flow.
