Some batteries, although the correct nominal voltage for the camera, are not powerful enough for continued use. I have found the best solution is to use rechargeable NiMH batteries of at least 2100 MaH, preferably 2500 MaH.
Often the battery contacts can get dirty. My Kodak does the same thing. When the camera tests the battery for power, the poor contacts make the camera think the battery is nearly empty so it shuts down. Give the contacts a good clean with alcohol and check they are correctly aligned. Clean the batteries too.
