I have a Gateway MD2614u, and it won't boot up. When I press the power button, the fan starts, and the LED lights turn on, but the system will not boot up. After 5-6 tries, the computer will finally boot up. Once the computer boots up, it works perfectly. You can even restart the computer and it will boot up right away. For some reason after the computer is off for a long period of time, you have to try 5-6 times to get it to start. This computer is only about 1 year old. Do you have any suggestions? I have looked online at Gateway for possible fixes. Could this be a motherboard issue? Thank you for your time. Rob

I suspect that the hard drive motor is going out. Try a new hard drive. If it doesn't fix it, you can always return it.
Good luck,
James.
