Are you heating or cooling? If cooling is the compressor overheating? Some outdoor fans run only when condenser reaches a certain temperature. If it is in fact a problem, a capacitor is much cheaper than a motor. Replace the cap, if it fixed it, awesome, if not, you compressor will be happy. Honestly does sound like the motor but go cap first. Best wishes!!

Test and check the relay and fan with a meter when fan goes off one of them is over heating
