I have a Harman Kardon 435 receiver hooked up for 5 channel surround sound. Receiver will start out fine playing off dvd, but then will inevitably "lock up" and I can't do anything including change source, volume etc. Tried followind HK instructions to "reboot" software but that does nothing so trying to figure out what to try next

If anyone has problems like: only sound on one output or of it's locked or any other strange symptoms, try resetting proc. Leave amp in st.by. Push "Surr. Mode" and "RDS" simultaneously. "RESET" will show in display. Give it try now and see if the amp is any better.
I cant help you on the solution but i can tell you my AVR435 does the same thing and im returning for a new model..whatever replaces it..img lad i got the extended warranty since i bought mine 5 years ago
I would perform a firmware update, but that does not sound like a problem that is easily fixed if the reset procedure does no fix things.
I'l ask HK next time i talk to them, I have never had this happen on a 435 yet.
