I have a Harman Kardon AVR 30. It's always worked great, but now I get no sound out of any speaker outputs. I checked the internal fuses and they are ok. Any other ideas?
If it is not under warranty, I would open the case and hook up the multimeter up to your outputs and see if you are getting any volts. If not, then I would check the main board for any cold solder joints, and re-solder any solder points that appear cracked, or dull. They should be smooth and shiny. Use desoldering braid (RadioShack) to remove solder with your iron, and reapply solder with rosin-core lead-free electrical solder (RadioShack). Check any capacitors and transistors for continuity with the multimeter (with Harmon Kardon unplugged). If any capacitors do not give a reading, then I would replace those.
Yes as long as you got a reading in the speaker outputs you are still looking good. I would imagine it's probably cable related, now that I know that you are getting power out the receiver. You could always test with another cable if you have an extra one..

Antiviruses sometimes go crazy for no reason, but I don't know if it has a virus or not, I was able to read the PDF just fine, but then again I am not on Windows I am using Linux.

The most likely cause is the output transistors being defective. Wether or not both channels are effected, I can not say without taking measurements inside the unit. At least one channel is bad. There are protection circuits inside that will prevent the speakers from turning on in this condition. Expect a parts cost between $25-$60 for this repair.
To properly repair this will require some test equipment as well as some experience with soldering. While it is possible to talk you through this, it won't be easy for either of us. Realistically with a unit this old, it should get a complete overhaul/check. Typically I would charge around $60-$80 for labor on this. The overhaul would include checking all solder connections and cleaning all of hte controls and switches. Any local repair shop can do this. Given its age and overall quality, spending $125 for a complete repair/overhaul is worth it. You should be able to get another 15+ years out of it. Realize too that the repair could be as simple as poor solder connections at the voltage regulator circuits. This too would cause the shutdown/prevent sound. The main issue here is that I can not see the unit, so I really can not indicate for sure what the problem is. In a case of having the unit in front of me, an accurate estimate is possible after measuring a few things inside.
Where are you located?

Hi, First off how long have you owned it? It may still be under warranty and you would want to send it in for service. Just try plugging in the front r and l speakers into the "A" connection make sure you have the "a" engaged on the front and that the tape 1 or tape monitor isn't on. once I have more information I can assist you further. Thank you, Lee

Did you check all the possible settings I already mentioned?
thank you,
