I have a Holmes HM1850. Looks the same as the 1845. I have just cleaned it and started it running again. Heating season has begun. The humidifier, when the water level gets to about 50%, dumps it's water reserve onto the floor.Great for the humidity but kind of a mess. What causes this bizarre problem? Thank you, Bill Loughrey
This happens because it's simply getting too much water out too fast, it shouldn't Dump until it's at least 80% full, it's a protection mechanism to stop it overflowing.. the only thing I can suggest is to run a hose out from the back to take away the water extracted from the air.. or empty the reserve out earlier... There is indeed a sensor that controls all this so also it may be faulty..or if adjustable may need adjustment.
