I have a jl 10001 when i put power on it and hook up the speakers then when i plug in my rca jack its has a loud thumping noise comming out the speakers. can u tell me what mite be wrong

Good be a ground issue from the headunit. Try running the amp off another source (another deck, an ipod etc) See if it goes away then.
You should never connect anything to an amplifier while it is powered up. Connect everything to the amplifier before turning it on. Now turn it on, If the amplifier makes the thumping sound constantly then it will need a good technician preferably a JL Audio technician. nice amplifier, but it is not for speakers, it is for sub woofers dreamsystems
