I have a kohler bath jet tub. When I push the button the motor tries to start and then trips the gfi breaker. Thought maybe it was the gfi breaker and replaced it. Wasn't it. I took out the gfi breaker and put in a regular twenty amp breaker just to test it. Pump runs great but you can hear the pump struggle to start. I figure the pump is gunked up a little, especially since there was a lot of brown small objects in water when pump was running. I put gfi breaker back in and tried pump again and it tripped the gfi again. I called kohler and they no longer make this pump. They recommended a repair shop but they want $500 to fix it. I've been looking online and new pumps only costs about $200. Is there any way I can find a pump that is similar and replace this pump with it? Also, It doesn't operate off a air button. The button is connected to what looks like a telephone wire with a jack. Pump has a spot for jack insertion too. Thanks
Did you try an electric motor rebuilder? $500 seems too high to repair a motor. Motors have either a capacitor or dual windings to get them started and it sounds like yours has failed. Get the numbers off the MOTOR and call a motor rebuilder in your area for pricing. Gary
