I have a Laars pool heater, model R0096400, and I can not get the pilot switch to push down to lite it. asked a pool service guy come to fix, he could not move it too, and told me that i need a new valve. any workaround solution or do i have to order a new one, it cost $340 online. If someone has used one, please let me know. thanks!

Your pool guy may be right but before spending any hard earned cash,remove phillips head screw in middle of on/off/pilot knob and remove.make sure there is no debris under knob.squirt spray lubricant along stem wait 10 minutes and lube again.replace knob turn to pilot position work it by pushing down several times.it may stick in down position so gently pry up.my success rate is about 70/30 for this technique
