I have a Laars pool heater, model R0096400, and I can not get the pilot switch to push down to lite it. I asked a pool service guy come to fix, he could not move it either , and told me that i need a new valve. Is there any workaround solution or do i have to order a new one, If someone has used one, please let me know. thanks!

Sometimes the spring inside the valve can be jammed. If it will not go down and by chance you are unable to force it down, then chances are it won't stay up either. So in all...You will have to get new valve.
