I have a Marco Natural Gas Direct Vent Fireplace that you turn on with a wall switch. Lately it will not light when the switch is turned on, this happens about 50% of the time. It is not the switch because it has been replaced. Once the fireplace is running it will burn for about a half hour and then turn off. Any ideas whats wrong?
The only thing a fireplace like your has that could be faulty is the thermocouple or safety switch on the gas valve.
A thermocouple is a likely suspect. Look in your manual for a part number and buy a replacement. Cleaning the old one might work too if it is heavily coated with carbon.
