I have a Meade LX 200 telescope permanently mounted. Please tell me what to do since when I align it either easey, automatic, one star or two stars inmediatly the key pad is locked and i canot slewit manually. I have a brand new autostar pad and brand new cable besides an old one and a wireless one
This leaves the circuit boards and motors as possible causes. On the LX200 the computer "brain" is inside the scope-- the hand controller is simply a dumb terminal.
You will need to visually check the circuit boards inside the scope for burned out circuits or broken traces.
Ron Sampson on the Yahoo LX200 group can repair these circuit boards. You can contact him on the LX200 Yahoo group forum.
After trying to find this problem on the net (which I failed to do), I realized this is a sophisticated device and there are many things that, if forced, could damage the unit. I found the manual on it, and I suggest you review it to see if it's a setting you could try. http://www.meade.com/manuals/lx200/d.html If you're still having trouble, contact Meade support to see what can be done to fix the problem. Here's their site: http://www.meade.com/support/ Wish I had more, but hope this helps.

I will ASSUME that:
You have a good power supply.
That the hand controller cable is not defective
That the hand controller (new) is OK--
