I have a model VR3845 DVD Recorder VCR. I bought the unit in 2005. The DVD side will not accept either a blank or a prerecorded disc. After the disk if inserted, the machine goes into the "Reading" mode for sometime, then ejects the disc with a message which reads, "Unknown Disc, please, check disc again." We did have a severe thunder storm in the area last night, but this clitch seems to be the only problem I have with any of the electonics plugged into the same surge protector. The VCR side of the VR3845 works, as do the TV and stereo receiver. Where would I find a service technician to troubleshoot and possibly repair the unit?

Sad as it is... the cost of a repair may be more expensive then buying a new one.
