I have a mtx thunder amp. It started cutting in and out, when it did that it would make a loud sharp noise thru the subwoofer and then work fine. after turning my truck off and cutting it back on it would do the same thing. then finally the other day it started smoking so i unhooked everything. What could possibly be the problem??

WELL, THE BAD NEWS IS THAT IT WILL DEFINITELY NEED TO BE SERVICED, BUT WHEN REINSTALLING IT, MAKE SURE TO HAVE THE SPEAKER CHECKED TO INSURE THAT IT IS NOT FAULT Y, AS IT COULD HAVE A BAD VOICECOIL WHICH CAN PRESENT A SHORT TO THE OUTPUTS OF THE AMPLIFIER RESULTING IN PREMATURE FAILURE. IF IT IS FINE, THEN REINSTALL THE AMPLIFIER AND YOU SHOULD BE OK FROM THERE. ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL POWER CONNECTIONS, ESPECIALLY THE GROUND, SHOULD ALWAYS BE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE 100%. HOPE THIS HELPS AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE....V
