I have a new BenQ G2220HD monitor connected to my MacBook as an external display. Since I've had it, it's had problems such as flickering pixels, lines that flicker, screen goes gray and flickers and is fuzzy, "snow". At first I had a 5m DVI cable but it was hard to get the monitor to work, but when it did work, it was perfect, now I got a 1m cable, and I get all these flickering pixels most of the time, showing up on certain colours such as the blacks, etc
Your onboard video card is going bad on you computer. Some shops may sale an external video device which can be installed in place of your onboard video and it will fix your problem. Average costs aer about $50. Before you try YET ANOTHEr monitor, please try to hook the computer up to a tv to see if the problem pesists, if so, it is time for the above video adapter
