I have a new house that had speakers built into the cieling. I bought an onkyo to push all eight speakers. the reciever went into protect mode. i had an old reciever and hooked four speakers to the onkyo and four to an older sony. It still goes into protect mode. is there a way to test the wiringwithout disassembling the speakers or wall volume control?

You can check them with a ohm meter, hook it to the wires that you hook to the reciever and if you get a reading it is good if no reading it is bad wires
