I have a new prestige APS-57C remote starter installed in a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe and I have a problem with the factory alarm going off every once and awhile. The majority of the time everything is fine, but there have been 3 occasions where I unlock the car and the alarm goes off when I open the door. The auto starter will then not work and the car will not start even with the key in the ignition. The only solution I have found for this is to get a ride back to my house and dig out the factory remotes. I unlock the car with the factory remote, then with the starter remote THEN auto start the car. Once it is started I open the door (alarm goes off but at least the car is running) put the key in the ignition and wait for the alarm to stop. This is not very convenient, especially when I am no where near home and in a public place with the alarm making a scene. The installer insists that I am still using the factory remote but I am doing no such thing. Someone please help!

Maybe the installer did not hook up the remote starter unit to disarm the factory security system upon entry or remote-starting. Ask the installer to double check that part of the install as it would cause the factory security to trigger even though you unlocked the vehicle with the remote start unit remote.

The 2009 Santa Fe has an unlock, factory disarm and unlock detection wire. All of these wires need to be used to unlock and disarm the factory alarm. On the Aps 57, use the black with blue for the disarm wire(pink) and, double diode the green unlock wire and connect to the unlock(gray with black) and unlock detection( gray) and program the output for double pulse unlock. The 2009 Santa Fe has an unlock, factory disarm and unlock detection wire.
