Q: So your brand new Yamata FY920 needle will not go when the Power Foot-Peddle is pressed. A: If it is new, there is little chance any part is worn out. The most likely cause is that the Power Train has been disengaged as if to wind a Bobbin. The Handwheel, on the Left side (the top wheel), has a slide-switch in the middle of the hub. Slide that switch in the other direction and your Power Train should now be engaged again, allowing the Needle to go Up and Down when the Power Foot-Peddle is pressed. That should do the trick to get the Needle to sew again. [ P.S. That's a nice machine, but be careful when you clean it, since the markings have been known to run if any kind of solvent, or even some plastics, come in contact with them. ] Hope this helps.
