I have a Nikon D80 camera that is about 1 year old. I has worked fine until about 6 months ago. Sometimes when I turn it on and press the button to take the picture nothing happens. I have to wait awhile and keep playing with the button and then it will finally take the picture and act normal. This happens inside and out. Sometimes the flash will pop up outside in direct sunlight. Do I have some settings wrong or why is it acting like this?

Are you getting a Err message? If so The ERR message is not a good thing. Read page 132 of the D80 Manual. Also, try a factory reset found on page 129 of the manual. On the left side of the camera is the terminal cover, inside below the USB connector is the reset switch. If that does not work call Nikon digital 1-800-645-6689.
