I have a Philips Go Gear SA5285 Digital media player 8gb. I can not get my volume button to increase the volume. I have held the button down, reset the player, and also went into settings. It will decrease the volume, which is my problem, it is so low I can't use it. Is there another way to increase the volume versus using the volume button? If not, can you tell me how to remove the back so I can see if I can fix it from the inside?

I believe the increase button is not contacting on the inside. You need open the media player's cover so the you can increase the volume from the inside.
To remove the cover, look around the cover for any screws and loose every screw. Then look for a small flat screw driver, and use it to open the cover from the side. The cover has been clipped together, so you will use the flat screw driver to release the clip.
You need to apply force while doing this and be very careful as well.
Once the cover is open, check the increase volume button and see why its not touching/contacting the increase volume panel. You can also turn the player on, while the cover is open and try to increase the volume. You can use the screw driver to directly increase the volume on the panel.
Hello phlaxy. Go to menu, select settings then select sound settings. Now, select the Volume limit>off. Then press back, and select FullSound>on. After that, press back again and select Equalizer>Custom.
Now check if you can get the volume working. Test it with a pair of headphones and test it without the headphones as well.
So, it seems that you could only decrease the volume button but not increase the volume, the problem is that the volume-up button is not attach properly to the device, that's why it can detect the reaction when you press the volume up. Something has gone lose in the motherboard, it's better to sent it to a technician so that the can open the device and check if the volume up button has been attached properly. If it's still under warranty, you get it repaired under warranty.
