There are two cheap possibilities; a blown fuse and/or a blown thermistor. The latter are used to limit inrush current to the power supply by having a higher resistance when cold and a lower resistance when warm. They start out at under 10 Ohms and decease to values sometimes lower than 1 Ohm and produce kind of a 'soft-start' which avoids damaging certain parts in the front end of the power supply. They will often fail when hit with a heavy surge although they are not fuses by design.
If you remove the back panel of your set after leaving it unplugged for a few hours, look for a smaller board with larger parts on it that seems related to the AC cord and attaches to other sub-assemblies with multiple connector-equipped wires. This will be the power supply. Inspect it for any signs of burned areas and also for any fuse you can recognize. If you see a pair of dirty looking wires sticking up out of the board, this is likely the remains of a thermistor. If intact, it will have a disk between the wires.
