If the broken part is listed in the exclusions section, then they don't have to cover it. If they say your repair is excluded, ask them to show you exactly where that part is listed in the exclusions section. If it IS listed, that's the lesson--read the fine print before you buy an extended warranty.
If the part that's not covered was maintained according the mfgrs schedule, then they should cover the engine part.
