This can be a faulty jack socket on your laptop, i.e. has been knocked a couple times with the jack. to test wiggle the jack till other speaker pops in. if this doesn't work switch where the speakers attach to if the right hand speaker starts to work through the left channel then their is issues with the right channel, try switching the aux lead if it comes back then its just the wire if not it can either be your jack socket on the laptop or a blown connection on the speakers.
you can pay for people to repair these but your looking at least 100 labour and parts
