I have a quad core q945 pc it has a 750watt coolert masterpower supply.i was running nvidia gtx 260 graphics card with no problem.... bought radeon hd 4890 , and as soon as i put it in i have nothing on the screen except "no signal" showing.... i therefore took my power supply and the radeon card to try on my friends quad core pc..installed the power supply and graphics card and had no problems!!!!brought it back to my place and nothing...why is this? yet my nvidia gtx 260 works fine.. please helthyank you

To confirm the problem I am gonna need the model no of your motherboard.
A quick comparision of specs shows that your ATI card uses DDR5 memory(1024MB) and the nVidia card uses DDR3 memory. I believe DDR5 is not compatible with your chipset and this can very well be the source of the problem.
Ok. Try this first. Are you using DVI port or VGA port to connect it to the monitor? VGA is known to have problems with this card so try to connect it to the monitor using DVI port and see if it works. If your monitor does not have a DVI port then try connecting to your tv (DVI to HDMI) and see if you are able to get an image
