I have a qualcast bosch 35s petrol lawnmower with Engine AQ148. I have stripped the tecumseh carb down and cleaned the jets
I have cleaned the three jets in the main jet screw on the bottom of the float chamber and removed the plastic main jet and ensured it is clean. The engine starts first time and keeps surging and will not tick over.

Put a gasket kit in it with a new needle and seat.
I have solved the problem. the non adjustable idle screw was concealed behind a rubber plug. I used a pointed awl to remove the plug and then removed the idle screw and cleaned the jets with fuse wire. re-assembled and it now runs smoothly and will idle.
