I have a quantaray 2.8 macro lens for Nikon. The lens barrel stuck and could not move. It was fixed by Ritz Camera once it was less than one year old and there was still in warrantee. Right now maybe the warrantee is over. How could it be fixed? Will it be expensive to fix? Do you charge any fee for answering my question?
Cameras - Quantaray - 50mm f/2.8 AF Macro for Nikon
Right now you are on the "Free" side of the list. I'm an independent not associated with any of the camera, lens or accessory manufacturers I'm a Freelance Photographer that uses this equipment to make my living. Repairs to a lens like this if it were in Canada would run about $120.00 but I'd be asking Ritz cameras first if there were a warranty. If the lens is working for you and you are satisfied with its performance then It's up to you if there is no warranty and it's a pay to repair deal. What I would be asking myself is why is this lens barrel sticking and my answer would be dirt. Lint and oils from our hands will enter the lens barrel and cause all sorts of problems. Also if you use this lens in the field there is sand and other environmental nasty things that get in between the two barrels. I see a lot of questions about these Quantaray lenses, never used one so can't really voice an opinion except that non of the lenses I've owned over the past 30 years have ever stuck because dirt has entered the lens.
