I have a question about my 2003 gmc seirra 6.0l. When I turn the key to crank the engine it struggles for a second then starts. It has the same sound as if the battery is almost dead, but I just replaced the battery. I even charged the battery and still struggles. I also put a new starter in it. Any idea?
I do not know if the newer GM products still have the cylanoid switch attached to the starter or if they are now separate components like in the fords and dodges. I would check the cylanoid to make sure it is operating properly it could be corroded inside or have something causing the extra resistance before giving the complete power required to spin your starter. You can bypass the cylanoid to check to see if it activates your starter properly. If it does activate properly then you know it is the cylanoid. Also check to make sure all your connections are tight and corrosion free. this will cause starter drag as well. Another thing to check is to make sure your battery cable is not to close to any hot parts of the engine as it may have scraped or burnt through the protective coating and could be grounding out against the engine which will cause initial starter drag as well.
Might be a fuel delivery issue. You can rent a fuel pressure test kit from most parts stores. see if the pump pressures are correct or if the regulator is bad.
