I have a rancilio Silvia. when I turn on the button for the steam wand, as it begins heating up it sprays steam into the water reservoir tank. I have tried descaling and backflushing. Any suggestions?

My guess is the steam wand is clogged with milk. This is a common problem. Try a pipe cleaner or something similar.
thank you for the suggestion! I had tried that as it was my first suspicion as well. For those interested, the problem was that the gasket on the piston on the 3-way valve was deteriorating. $10 fix and it's working beautifully! Thanks again!
