I have a real problem. I have replaced the thermal fuse twice. The second time I took the vent apart and found a roll of plastic trash bags in the vent. I removed the bags and cleaned the vent, I looked at the vent tube going from the laundry room to the outside and found no blockage. The thermal fuse has gone out a third time and I am at a loss to figure out why. My wife described the following; When the dryer ran on medium heat there were no problems. However once she switched to high heat the fuse went out after the dryer reached high heat. Help I have a Whirlpool WED5600S
You need to REMOVE the filter housing and clean it out. I use a water hose to wash em out. The only way to deal with it is remove it and wash is out. Buildup restricts airflow. Brushs don do it. Break her down and clean her out.Yank out the filter ans remove the screws on the filter housing pop the top and remove the front, get the drum out and do a thorough clean. It is rare, but it happens; more often with the 4 wire ones than any other.
Glad to help, anytime.
