I have a Roland vs 840 ex it has had a c.f. drive installed the machine seems to work perfect except when I set up and get ready to record and depress play or rec it says no disk. It has a 4gb c.f. card.I just bought it from someone today .it won't initialize everything else works great its practically brand new. Someone out there with some good advise

Try to initialise (format) it in your computer. Use an external card reader. I think you should use FAT 16 or FAT 32. But once the Roland sees the card, do an initialise there.
It could be the Roland can;t work with memory cards above 2 Gbyte, for that try to make a 1 Gbyte partition in your computer and again try if it works.
