I have a ryobi x 430 string trimmer. The timing belt came off as mentioned in other postings and I put it back on according to online tips. It ran well for a while. Now, it is hard to start, but it does. It does not idle unless I am manually holding the throttle or trigger. The throttle appears to open all the way when I use the trigger, but the engine does not run at full speed and the head does not spin enough to cut one blade of anything. I removed the carb and cleaned it with carb cleaner as well. No difference

It is possible that the timing gear jumped a tooth. Take off valve cover and check to make sure timing marks line up. Other than that check other things like carb adjustment, good gas, air filter and other general tune up things.
