Yes, you can. Use either a butane grill lighter or a long stick match. Make sure the control knob is in the "light" position and the wick is in the right position. Light the long stick match or butane grill lighter, press the control knob in and while holding it in, touch the flame of the match or butane grill lighter to the wick and the wick should ignite. Once it ignites, quickly remove the match without knocking the tip off into the heater.
