I have a Sony KDL 46 XBR 6 and I was trying to fix the TV on my own someone gave it to me I saw that there could be an issue with the t-con board how can I tell if it's that or the LCD screen

It would be very difficult to say if TCON will solve the problem as you have not defined the problem at the first place.

The symptoms such as LED blinks; no video only audio; vertical lines or horizontal lines etc are useful to determine the root cause not 'someone gave it to me'
