I have a TEAC A-350 Cassette Deck, and has been dead for years. It needs belts. I was told that belts were not available for it. I have since found some belts meant for the A-350, but have not got a clue how to install them -- I *think* there are three of them. I have a vague idea how to install at least one of them, and the BIG one I *think* I know where it goes, but as far as to where the 3rd one goes that is a total mystery. Of course I have no diagram that show how to install them. The reason I *think* it uses 3 belts, not two, is that there 3 different levels. One belt goes on the upper portion of the removable big wheel and attaches to the finned motor or drive -- my guess anyway; a shorter belt goes on the lower portion of that same removable big wheel, and attaches to probably one of the two cassette gears; and then there is a third small wheel which I assume may be used for reverse that sits at a higher plain. Where that would go is a mystery to me. Can some one tell me what is the correct way to install the belts on this particular cassette deck??
The belt installation is not often indicated in the service manual but comes from years of experience of working on these. I worked on a few of these at Chicago Factory Service (Teac) but it has bee such a long ime I can not describe it from memory. You need to go to Hi Fi Engine and see if you can get a free Pdf servioce manual that might help you otherwise it needs to be seen by a Technician who will clean other parts, lubricate and do the necessary things to get it going again. I have new heads for it as well. The record/play switch will need cleaning I am sure as well as other switches.
