I have a three year old Piaggio 50cc Zip scooter. It starts first time and will run perfectly well up to half throttle. after this it loses power especially uphill, as though it is running out of fuel. Once on the flat it returns to normal until you once again require more throttle
I have had the same problem with my stepsons zip 50 and have done all the usual checks. The solution is from a piaggio technition. Take off the air cleaner and housing, start the scooter and bring it to the point where the engine dies. At this point spray easy start or a gasoline spray direct down the carb intake. If the revs pick up, you have a lack of crank case compression and the most likely reason is worn oil seals on the crankshaft. It sounds odd but the worn seals cause all kinds of strange problems. Thats 2 stokes for you. Hope it helps, good luck
thank you very much for this advice im going to try this , because i've tried everything else to no avail.thank you very much for this advice im going to try this , because i've tried everything else to no avail.
Try changing the jet size up about 5 or 10 sizes the jet is located on the bottom of the carb you will have to take the bowl of it to get to it the jet will usually be gold. ps dont worry if fuel starts coming out of the bowl as it will only be a small amount
• The first thing to do with ANY engine that has sat for any longer than a couple of months is to dump ALL the fuel in the tank and carb(s). ALL OF IT !! You'll want to refill with some high priced fuel that has fuel system cleaners (Like Chevron with Techron) not becasue you need high-test fuel, but because you need the cleaners. It's ether that or disassemble the carbs and clean out jets you can't find much less see. Your choice. The carb kits alone will cost you about $50 so a tank of high-test is looking pretty good, huh?
• Now the fact that you tried to crank the engine with old fuel has fouled the sparkplugs. Go buy all new sparkplugs.
Got a zip bought it from the place where I took my cbt rode it for 2 days and just started boggin down after quarter throttle any solutions ASAP please thanks Daniel
I have kind of same problem my piaggio nealy cuts out on full rev,i have sprayed the carb with carb cleaner but still no luck as it still does the same it just seems to lose power and i dont know what it can be
Man i got a problem like this with my 2002 piaggio zip 2t and it die`s at half revs but just as you start it from cold runs like a champ any suggestions ? ive cleaned the jets carb overhaul; and airbox fuel and oil!!! its **** me off i`m glad i`m not the only one with zip disease though they all seem to be **** in the long run but oh well taking me so long i`m getting a car soon
you should try getting a new set of rollers and belt and get the carb jetted so u can have a air filter on then that means it wil **** in more air so u could get that extra mph out it
